What We Found

We found no record of Trump announcing that aliens have visited Earth for 1,000 years, or for any length of time. What he actually did: on Feb. 19, 2026, he posted that he would direct the Secretary of War and other agencies to identify and release government files on aliens, UAP and UFOs. That same day he told reporters, "I don't know if they're real or not."

The files are real. Since May 8, 2026, the Pentagon's PURSUE program has posted batches of UAP records at war.gov/UFO. The Pentagon describes them as unresolved cases, where the government couldn't determine what was seen. AP, Reuters and others reported that the files contain no conclusive evidence of alien life or technology.

Steven Greer's "speech" isn't a White House plan. Greer is a retired ER doctor and UFO activist. He founded CSETI in 1990 and the Disclosure Project, and in 2001 he hosted a National Press Club event where about 20 former military and government witnesses described UFO experiences. Those were claims, not government findings. His website posts a 2018 "draft disclosure announcement for world leaders" that he says contacts of Trump and Putin requested. It says extraterrestrials have visited Earth "for some time." We found no evidence that the White House requested, approved or scheduled any such speech. Newsweek reported in February 2026 that there was no evidence of a planned Trump UFO speech.

The official record doesn't support alien visits. The Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) reported in 2024 that no U.S. government investigation had confirmed that any UAP sighting was extraterrestrial technology, and that it found no verifiable evidence of hidden alien-tech programs. Congress has held UAP hearings, including a September 2025 House Oversight task force hearing. Witnesses described encounters and lawmakers pressed for transparency, but no proof of alien visitors was presented.
